Children's Speech, Language and Literacy
Special Interest Group
This group aims to bring together those with
a special interest in children with speech, language
and literacy difficulties. Our focus will be primarily
on intervention with such children: How can we provide
effective intervention for these children? What
are strategies that we can use to evaluate our practice;
prevent such difficulties and ultimately develop
our knowledge of children with communication difficulties?
The group aims to provide a supportive forum for
sharing cases and clinical queries; reading and
critically reviewing research papers that inform
our knowledge and clinical practice. The group is
open to all interested clinicians, researchers and
students. Sessions may follow particular themes
depending on the interests of the group's members.

and researchers to review recent dysphagia literature
and discuss difficult cases, in both adult and paediatric
dysphagia, with the purpose of informing clinical
practice. Speech-Language Therapists working in
this clinical area are encouraged to attend these
meetings to share with colleagues in an informal,
supportive manner.

to central and functional disorders. Both diagnosis
and management will be considered and this group
is open and will be of interest to a variety of
professionals including psychologists, physiotherapists
and occupational therapists. The aim of this group
